Automaton Nicolas Alexandre THEROUDE (1845-1878) The violin monkey, a monkey sitting on a chair plays the violin, in original condition, height 55cm Observation - It is an automaton designed by Nicolas Alexandre Théroude, whose preparatory drawing dating from 22 July 1862 is reproduced in a book on automatons, page 143 (BEYER Annette Faszinierende Welt der Automaten, Callwey Verlag München, 1983). Théroude's drawing is entitled No. 4 and represents all the details and movement of the mechanism. This drawing is the patent application of Théroude for a musician monkey, with the mechanism hidden in the seat, application dated July 22, 1862 This drawing allows us to attribute the automaton presented to N.A.
