MEISSEN late 18th century, polychrome hard porcelain group r - Lot 1462
MEISSEN late 18th century, polychrome hard porcelain group representing the sleeping shepherdess watched by her shepherd and surprised by a little boy. Sword markings in blue under cover. Lg. 32cm. This group is normally a production of the Höchst manufactory and appears as one of the most sought-after models of this manufactory. But here the same model, same arrangement of the characters, same size bears an indisputable signature of Meissen. It is very likely that when Höchst closed down at the end of the 18th century in 1796, the mould used to make it was recovered by Meissen. It is therefore an exceptional piece in terms of rarity and quality.
