Exceptional pipe in sea foam offered to General Lasalle by t - Lot 1119
Exceptional pipe in sea foam offered to General Lasalle by the 10th regiment of hussars in Stettin in 1806. Dobrocen type pipe, silver lid forming a finely worked helmet, small chain with silver links fixed at the top of the stem, long wooden pipe with flexible part. Inscription on the silver mounting of the stem: "To General Lasalle, the 10 th Hussars, Stettin 28 Oct. 1806". This is a moving testimony of the attachment of the troops of the 10th Regiment of Hussars to their leader, General Antoine Charles Louis de Lasalle who, by his audacity, his daring, his tactical sense and his bravery earned him the admiration of his soldiers. We owe him this famous quote: "Every hussar who is not dead at thirty years old is a jean-foutre. ». He was taken to Wagram in 1809 at the age of 34, Napoleon declared about him: "he was an officer of the greatest merit and one of our best generals of light cavalry". He is still considered today as one of the greatest cavalry generals of his time. It is thus at the head of his brigade which becomes "the infernal" that Lasalle, who accumulates victories against the Prussians during the campaign of 1806, takes the fortress of Stettin. Diameter of the furnace: 2.2 cm Stove height: 10.5 cm Total length: 37 cm
